The Portland Fashion Week official schedule is now live on the website, and it looks good. From Friday, October 19 through Wednesday, October 24 each night’s fashion show will feature work by half-dozen or so lines from Portland and beyond, lines like Portland’s Emily Katz, Idom, Rachel Mara, Anna Cohen, Souchi and more. We’re particularly interested in seeing the full lines of Seattle’s alula and Modi Soondarotok’s Idom (PDX).
Once in a blue moon, a designer will come into my boutique, without me knowing so prior, and introduce me to their new, and this is the important part, cute, clothing line. I hate to say it, but I spend too large a portion of my day filtering through a lot of crappy stuff that designer's impose upon me. Well, these two girls from Seattle came in a few months ago and showed me their new line Alula Clothing, and I bought it. I loved it, especially this dress with built in "mittens"
"Say goodbye to gray days when you wear this cheery cotton burnt-orange trench coat from Alula. The local design trio, comprised of Beth O'Leary, Chelsey Burton and Katrina Thomson, focuses on fit, functionality and originality. The full-skirted coat has a removable hood, large saddlebag pockets, a belted waist and cinched cuffs. This trench combines fantastic cut and color with a touch of whimsy: The lining is printed with forest animals in deep repose."
"In keeping with the local flavor, independent designers from Seattle and Portland will be featured along with designers from New York and Los Angeles. Keep an eye out for some fashion-forward styles by Alula from Seattle..."
